You can register your daughter’s interest by visiting the Girlguiding website and following the key stages of the joining process.
You’ll be asked to provide your contact details and key pieces of information about your daughter, so we can suggest several units in your area. You can then select which unit is most convenient.
You will then be contacted by someone from your chosen unit, usually within 21 days, to tell you all about meetings, what’s planned for the term, the costs involved and whether there’s a waiting list for a space.
If the unit has spaces available, you can pop along and visit the unit for a trial meeting, so you can both get a better idea of what guiding’s all about. But we’re sure you’ll have a great time!
We know it can be hard to fit volunteering into a busy life – but our volunteers tell us they wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Whether it’s helping out at a local group for an hour a week or lending a hand with fundraising, they tell us they value the fun, friendship and chance to learn new skills.
As a volunteer you could find yourself helping girls learn about stars, campaign for women’s rights, go camping or even travel abroad. In return, Girlguiding look after volunteers with dedicated support, training and skills development.
The role of Leaders and Unit Helpers in running groups each week is vital to Girlguiding. Each of our Leaders is supported by a team of assistants, parents, young Girlguiding Scotland members and other volunteers, who plan and run activities with the girls, keep the finances and records up to date, and share with the world what guiding is all about – join here!
